CUNA to Hold Interchange Conference Call
CUNA CEO Bill Cheney will hold a national teleconference Wed., April 13, at 3 p.m. Eastern to discuss debit interchange issues.
“Legislation to delay debit interchange is at a critical juncture on Capitol Hill,” he says, “and we need your further involvement to gain passage before the July 21 statutory implementation date.”
During the call, CUNA will brief participants on:
- The latest legislative, political and regulatory developments from Washington on interchange;
- The importance of activating your credit union’s membership on the issue as soon as possible, and the resources CUNA has available to help; and
- New social media strategies (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) credit unions should use to engage members.
The call will take no more than 30 minutes, and there’s no charge for affiliated credit unions.
Participants must register in advance. Due to the large number of participants, the briefing will not include a Q&A.
Although credit unions face many important issues—member business lending, supplemental capital, and dealing with the regulatory burden among them—interchange issues demand near-term action, Cheney says.
