Thanks for the good memories about Stasia. She was unusual, that's for sure. But she did have a lot to teach us.

Good that someone is making people aware that economic recovery is intimately linked with the availability of health insurance. Older persons who put off retirement till they get medicare hold on to jobs younger persons need. Younger persons who might wish to start their own businesses are discouraged from that because they can't get affordable health insurance.

Not only is this piece entertaining, it has a message we can all use. The doggy references throughout work well to tie divergent ideas together.

Lora, Great post--and so very true. Too many credit unions are indeed risk averse. But your credit union doesn't try (something new), it will die. Could your credit union take a risk and fail? Absolutely. But you are also taking a risk by doing nothing. Risks your credit union should consider in 2012 are: loans to underserved, reaching a minority group, investing in branding, opening a new branch or launching a new product. All those things are risky. But if you aren't failing every now and then, then you really aren't growing. Mark
