It has been a month since this year’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). But if you’re like me, you’re probably still reveling in the ways the GAC energized you to continue your work on behalf of all credit unions.

Something magical always occurs when you find yourself surrounded by so many wonderful people who share the same commitment to a set of cooperative principles and values.

While a passion for credit unions may burn in each of our hearts, it’s how we come together as a movement—the way we Unite for Good and cooperate with one another—that produces an inferno of goodwill, one whose power and infuence should never be underestimated.

During GAC we saturated social media outlets with the message, “Don’t tax my credit union,” and walked the halls of Congress to share compelling credit union stories with our legislators.

We also devoted quality time to nourish that flame within our hearts: greeting old friends and recognizing those whose lives and contributions have made our movement brighter and stronger.

No one will deny that our movement is filled with heroes, many of whom quietly and discreetly go above and beyond to promote credit union philosophy and values within the communities they serve.

Each year at this time, we’re honored to present four outstanding leaders you’ve nominated during the past year as credit union heroes. These individuals exemplify the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and have gone the extra mile to make a difference in their communities.

Now it’s time to choose one of these folks as the 2014 Credit Union Hero of the Year. Voting is open now through May 1.

Vote now for one of these heroes:

Learn more about these leaders in our March issue. This year’s winner, or his/her representative, will be honored at CUNA’s America’s Credit Union Conference in San Francisco June 29 to July 3.

Help us decide who’ll be the next Credit Union Hero of the Year. Vote today, and together let’s contribute to the power of the credit union story.
