Gauge Your Disaster Readiness

CUNA Mutual Group’s Credit Union Protection Division, Madison, Wis., offers an online disaster protection risk self-assessment guide enabling credit unions to evaluate their disaster protection preparedness. It’s the first of several interactive risk self-assessment tools that will be available to credit unions.

This tool lets credit unions identify issues to consider as they assess their risk, and allows them to access additional tools and resources to address problem areas and receive personal follow-up from their account relationship manager.

The online assessment, which takes about 30 minutes, is based on the print version of "Disaster Protection Risk Self-Assessment." The guide addresses 34 questions related to credit unions’ facilities and contents, disaster recovery plans, and insurance coverage.

Credit unions receive one of four rankings: excellent, good, caution, or danger. They receive an overall ranking and one for each of three sections: facilities, contents, and equipment assessment; disaster recovery plan assessment; and insurance assessment.

Credit unions will receive general comments with their overall and section rankings. Under each section, credit unions will receive recommendations based on areas of concern identified through their responses.
